Aims and Objectives

The aim of this co-operation is the development, supervision and promotion of further education activities, destined to assist the creation and consolidation of democratic  living and working conditions in the countries around the Baltic Sea. To establish an integrative adult education system of which all ethnic groups in the Baltic region will gain, it concentrates on further education in society. This work is intended to promote the evolution of a social and democratic Europe of Regions.

The BSA – network has been founded with the objective of

  • assisting member institutions in obtaining and executing contracts for supranational services and transnational projects within the EU and in association with the Baltic states, Poland and Russia
  • organizising and implementing of know-how transfer within the countries bordering on the Baltic and within other European countries
  • creating and maintaining of communication structures and a system for information exchange
  • planning and executing of bi- or multilateral projects
The stated aims and activities shall focus mainly on the fields of political education, languages, vocational qualification and employment, media skills and educational management. It is intended, inter alia, to design further education "building blocks", compact training systems, to define the conditions for their integration into curricula and to initiate exchange programmes.

Free and independent adult education institutions are eligible for membership. Although official bodies and state-owned institutions are not eligible for membership, they are welcome as sponsors of the activities of the "Baltic Sea Academy - Network of Adult Education".

Membership of the association is obtained by signing a co-operation agreement.
